Hey Friends, let us tell you more about what our support group offers!
What We Will Do
Our members want to work with the younger kids to:
Create a safe environment that allows everyone to express themselves freely
Help Explain what a transplant is in a kid friendly way
Give them recourses to camps across the country
Allow them to make friends with other kids who have gone through the same thing as them
Ease the worries pre-transplant recipients may have before their surgery
Help them feel comfortable in their own skin
Provide videos to watch while in the hospital or before a procedure to ease nerves
Answer any questions they may have pertaining to transplants
Conduct fun activities
So much more!
Our Message To The Parents: Explaining what a transplant is, and the after affects they may have, to a young kid can be stressful on top of everything else you have to take care of. It would be a great honor if you let us take this weight off of your shoulders through this support group using our experience and giving your children mentors to look up to.
How we will meet you:
Our group will be held online via zoom, and we will keep in touch with our new friends through the Band App. (When you sign up, you will receive the information for both.)
Disclaimer: The members are from various ethnic, socio-economic, and other backgrounds. There is reasonable assurance that no child will be discriminated against, bullied, or otherwise harmed during any group interaction. The members know they are not healthcare professionals and therefore do not offer advice or opinions that could contradict a members’ healthcare provider. The members keep their interaction to strictly being supportive and a peer ear.
